Empowering Women – UNFPA
Using video production covering the triumphs and struggles of global women the work of the UNFPA – United Nations Population Fund works to change conditions for women who are facing hardship.
These are only some of the issues facing global women today:
Women worldwide provide, through their agricultural labor, 80% of the world’s food. Only a startling low 15% of these women own the land they work.
Women who have suffered under war and conflict often have internalized trauma that long outlasts their experiences. Healing these wounds is possible, but takes time and special effort.
Women who suffer from poverty, caste discrimination and exclusion can move forward. How? Through education. When women and girls become more educated they not only improve their own lives, but the lives of their children, their husband, mother, father, sisters, brothers, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Women and girls who can be given greater opportunity have the power to change our world.

Young women and girls work through the UNFPA sponsored Kayayee project at the Ghana, Africa Agblogoshee Market. The goal is to help them live a life where their dignity and self-empowerment can begin to happen after they have suffered under years of hardship in the region.
