Gambia: GRRNSIP Discusses Nutritional Status of Mothers & Infants

Nbr — The Regional Health Management Team in Essau, North Bank Region (NBR) in collaboration with the National Nutrition Gambia Rapid Response Nutrition Security Improvement Project (GRRNSIP) recently held a regional subcommittee meeting to discuss and share ideas and ways of implementing the said project [GRRNSIP].

 The meeting, which was held in Essau was aimed at promoting healthy behaviours for maternal nutrition and child growth and improve access to selected therapeutic and preventive public health nutrition services to vulnerable people, in particular children under five and pregnant and lactating mothers in the rural areas.

Speaking at the meeting, Ivan Cooker, acting health director in NBR reiterated the significance of the subcommittee as it would contribute greatly to improving the nutritional status of women and children. Cooker noted that the setting up of the subcommittee on implementation at regional level would contribute to promoting healthy behaviours for maternal nutrition and child growth and improve access to selected therapeutic and preventive public health nutrition services, among others . . .
