A seminar aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of migrant women living in Marlborough was held in Blenheim yesterday.
Marlborough Newcomers’ Network field co-ordinator Margaret Western said it was the first of two women’s health seminars. Food, health and budgeting were discussed and a follow-up next Saturday would look at empowering women.
Burie Lilly, who emigrated from Papua New Guinea, said the seminars would be especially useful for women newly settled in New Zealand. After separating from her Kiwi husband, she had experienced bureaucracy problems, especially with the health system . . .
