MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon, March 30 (PIA) — As the world celebrates Women’s Month this March, the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) Bukidnon chapter has allowed a “girly take over” through airwaves, for the whole month’s “KBP Bukidnon Interaction” radio program aired every Sunday. With the theme “Juana, ang Tatag Mo ay Tatag Natin sa Pagbangon at Pagsulong,” the province’s lady broadcasters paid tribute to tough and resilient “Juanas (women)” who served the community and brought inspiring changes worldwide.
In one of the weekly interviews, Vicky Aquino, previously the news anchor of dxDB-Veritas in Malaybalay shared the story how she survived the ordeal during Martial Law days when the radio station was forcibly closed while she was in pulpit “on-air.”
“Historically, the voices of women are grossly underrepresented and the history of women doesn’t get a lot of space in other perspectives. This is a time to specifically focus on that and celebrate ‘women of the past and present’ to get rid of barriers that delay progress for women and girls,” Aquino said . . .
